 I've got three different utilities giving me three different cpu temps.

Asus PC probe gives me 52C... version v2.15.02
Motherboard monitor 45C version 5.1.0.7
SiSoft Sandra 31C version 2002.1.8.59

and all three say that my MB temp is 28C

I'm worried about this because I want to OC, but I want to make sure I have my temps stable, and CORRECT.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is, and as too which one is correct. I'm inclined to go on the cautious end and assume that it's at the 52C range.

system i'm currently running on is:
WinXP Pro
P4 1.6A (northwood) w/thermaltake P4dragon 478 fan and lapped heatsink.
Asus P4T-E (used both 1.005 and 1.006 Beta bios, same temps)
Gainward Geforce4 ti4400 (28.32)
2X256M PC800 RDRAM (samsung, baught it about 1.5 years ago, so it's not high volume, low quality)
lightOn DVD
Antec 1030case with four fans w/420 watt power supply
i'm using grounded shielded round cables.

I have problem with MBM too, and I found MBM will change some system settings so that SiSoft Sandra will follow its (wrong) reading, even after MBM was uninstalled. :| So I always try to confirm with BIOS reading to verify.

My system:
P4 1.6A running @2.13G, stock H/F, VCore 1.49V, idle 29C, loaded 45C
Shuttle AB30 845 motherboard (buggy, but seems still working)
512M PC133 ram @177 (3-3-3-7), PNY 256M + 128M + 128M, NEC and Infi chips,
4G hard drive  noisy and slow
LiteOn DVD
CompUSA case, thin and no case fan
Old IDE cable and floppy drive pulled from Pentium 75 PC. :D

I agree that I have heard that there are sometimes problems with MBM. I have not had any, but I agree that you should verify it by checking the reported temp in the software and then rebooting and quickly entering the BIOS and comparing the temp readouts.

Just to let you know, I have confirmed that my reading match.
