Getting a cheaper TV is mighty tempting but I am worried the quality might be teh suck.

It's not like I can actually tell the difference though... and then again, to watch tv/play gamecube/watch some movies, will it really make much of a difference?

Well, let's be honest.. A standard tv should last you say 2 years or so before being obsolete... If all you're doing is playing v-games and watching some movies in your bedroom then a cheaper tv would work perfectly... I'm not suggesting that you get it from ebay though - but the tv from a reputable dealer (pricematch the Apex from JVC at C.C. for $249 and the warranty should only be like $50) and return it if there's a problem at all... Leave the thing on 24/7 for 2 weeks and then you'll be able to tell if it was a wise investment..

Definitiely the Toshiba. Excellent picture and sound, all in one remote, and a great price. I got the 32" though.

I have a tv that's 14+ years old and it's still going strong.

Well when does one need a more expensive tv then if TV and videogames are not worth spending the money?

I would say spend the extra $$ if you're getting a high end HDTV compatible TV for the center of your living room's entertainment system (with a nice surround sound system and a prog scan dvd player).......I have a DTS/dolby digital surround sound system and a 36" xbr wega tv in my bedroom.. Of course, I feel like a total ass now that I'm unemployed (I should have gotten a smaller tv and saved the money to move out of my parent's place!).

I have the Toshiba 27AF42.

It's a pretty good set other than the fact that you can't skip the inputs (but then again neither does my new $2800 RPTV). Picture is nice and bright. A world of difference vs. the 7 YO 27" Sony I have in my den.
