I know there is the ca2-stepping, cb0-stepping... but are there anymore steppings?

I talked to a computer resaler yesterday, and the guy I talked to said that the processor (a PIII700E) I've ordered was either cb0 or better... Was that a lie or what was he talking about?

cC0 stepping for P3-700 100FSB do exist. SECC2 will be available next month I believe. I saw it on sale some where online but they were asking over $300 for it. This was 2 weeks ago.

I think a better buy would be a 800 or 850 mhz version. My BX board would not be able to o/c to its max potential.

An interesting question:

What is the benefit of going with cC0 stepping as opposed to cB0 stepping? Overclocking? I thought that stepping was just a revision level with fixes in the die?

If we are running MPS, we need the same stepping type right? We could not mix cB0 (which I currently have) with cC0 (which will be on sale), so if I want to go MPS, I would need to purchase either a cB0 before they disappear or two cC0's? Right/wrong?

cC0 step will appear throughout the speed grades, on Celeron, P-III, and mobile incarnations of the Coppermine core.

For dual processing, you'd want to check out Intel's "Pentium III Specification Update" document (from developer.intel.com). It has a matrix of valid processor combinations for dual processing, as well as an extensive list that allows you to identify what you have there from the manufacturing code (aka S-spec).
