Hi all, I currently have the XFX HD 6870 pictured here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150506

I currently have a 1080p HP2509m monitor, a Samsung 1680 by 1050 monitor, and I'm planning to get a Catleap 1440p monitor. Can I run all three of these monitors at their native resolutions with this video card on the desktop? Is there any video card that will allow me to do this? Keep in mind I will be gaming on just one monitor and only need the three for productivity purposes. Thanks in advance.

Part of the answer to your question is, that you are not looking for AMD Eyefinity, so you may want to change your title.

AMD Eyefinity, and Nvidia Surround work by tricking the OS into thinking all of the monitors are one combined resolution.

The 6870 can run three monitors, I BELIEVE that you will need one monitor to be DP with that model.

How would it behave if it didn't treat all three monitors as one combined resolution? Would it be just like how it behaves with 2 monitors, but with the 3rd?

Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a way to change the title of this thread.

Both and and nvidia cards can use the three displays in windows at native res. But if you want surround/eyefinity you need the same resolution to get in game working.

It would behave just like it does with 2 monitors, except you'd have 3. It should boost your productivity in Windows, and you aren't worried about gaming so it's a non-issue that the native monitor resolutions are not identical to each other.

So that fact that a 1440p monitor would be dual link DVI won't be a problem for the video card?

Your 6870 has a DP port which can support 2560x1600 + 2 Dual DVI (also 2560x1600) so it'll work out just fine.

Minor aside: didn't AMD move to having just 1 DL-DVI port on their cards starting with the 6800 series?

I'm assuming that a single 6870 is going to choke pretty badly at 1440p. Will it be a totally miserable experience or will the settings be reasonable?
