I wonder why he always covered the corners of the ace and the deuce when flipping over.

Ding! They are trick cards. Everything but those two corners are normal - the corners are swapped. So only that corner is showing when he spreads them and shows you, except the first time, which is why it is deceptive - he shows the normal corner of the ace, plus the middle, but from then on does not show that while doing the trick.

You cannot do this trick with a regular deck of cards.

The 3 is the only standard card in the deck. The other two cards are trick cards with the corners switched.

but in the beginning (before he does any tricks), he takes out each card and shows you (0:18+).

Watch it again. One corner of the Ace and Deuce is covered at ALL times.

I think he needs to work on his delivery - he should cover the corner of the three when flipping it over as well, make the motions identical for each card, even though the three isn't a trick card.

He's always covering the upper left hand corner of the ace of hearts and 2 of clubs though. They're trick cards.

The point of the video is not to play this game with a street dealer.

i read some other online tutorials of taping on other card corners to do 3 card monte, and I was going to say that his cards look pretty 2 dimensional without an extra card corner attached.

well it was a good trick until now

It is still a good trick. I know a ton of tricks all based off of a force. Same basic move, but different ways to do the presentation.

Some day I would love to run into a guy on the street doing this haha.

By the way, you can do a three card monte with regular cards. It takes a bit more skill than this though.

If you search and watch a couple other 3 card monte videos, you will see what the fake cards look like.

I've got a buddy who does some real sleight of hand.

Disregard everything after 2:00, unless you're diggin' on the Daft Punk.

I think you guys are overlooking something. Trick cards work as long as all cards were of the same suit, but they're not. When the Ah and the 2c are flipped or shown you always see the whole card with the exception of one corner. You can always see the heart in the center of the Ah and you always see a blank in the center of the 2c.

The Ah is exactly like the Ah, except one corner shows 2c. Same with the 2c. The middle of the Ah is the normal middle of an Ah. Same with the 2c. When shown the cards before placing them down on the table you see the normal 3c and ONLY the fake corner of the Ah and 2c. Watch again.

i STILL don't know how he did it (this video isn't really a tutorial, it just tells you what's happening - not how it's done)

it's crazy how i can't even see how he does it on a video

They're not normal cards. The cards have have center and 1 corner printed same while the other corner is different.

The 2C has AH in one corner, etc etc.

It's tough to say it's that easy to get tricked on the street, since trick cards aren't usually used. You'll still get tricked, just in a different way :)
