I'm using some generic matx s370 board w/ onboard video. I've tried two different p3 cpu's. I get the same 3 beeps every time I boot. Also, I've tried 2 diff hsf's w/ arctic silver. Theres does not appear to be any signal going to the 2nd input on my monitor, meaning the yellow light does not turn green.

this is a memory error. try to take it out and put it back in. make sure it sits secured.
if still getting 3 beeps..try to switch mem slot. else failed, memory is bad.

here is fact of the error:

system boot up with 3 beeps:

base 64 kb memory failure: a memory failure occured within the first 64 kb of memory.

I had that exact same problem last night (i didn't know what it is, but luckily i had supermicro manual handy).

if you system operate normal (no oc), it should fix it by tighten the mem slot or put it to a different slot.
if oc, i think look at your mem setting in the bios.
if your system been running for awhile with that memory and all of sudden give you that beep. I think it's time to replace it.

This is a new system i just put together. No signal is going to the monitor, and i'm not OC'ing. Is there any way to tell if its the memory slots themselves?

how many mem modules do you have? If two or more, try boot your system with one module at a time to distinguish which is the culprit. If you just have one memory in the system, take it out and replace it with another module (if you have one handy from older system).

yep, exactly what happened to me last night. 3 beeps, no video feed to monitor. I moved my memory from slot 1 to memory slot2. Boots up good ever since.
