3-8-2004 Buffett Says Bush Tax Cuts Favor Wealthy

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett accused the Bush administration Saturday of pursuing tax cuts that favor large corporations and wealthy individuals.

If class warfare is being waged in America, my class is clearly winning," Buffett said in Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s annual report.

Except for 1983, the percentage of federal tax receipts from corporate income taxes last year was the lowest since data was first published in 1934, Buffett said.

"Tax breaks for corporations (and their investors, particularly large ones) were a major part of the administration's 2002 and 2003 initiatives," Buffett said.

Buffett said many large corporations now pay nothing close to the stated federal tax rate of 35 percent.

Even when the rich have more money than human can reasonably spend in a lifetime they want more and tying up our Court system for decades:

3-7-2004 Hyatt Family Fued over inheritance Money

CHICAGO - A judge has dismissed a lawsuit by two young members of the wealthy Pritzker family who said they were cheated out of their inheritance, but the siblings will be allowed to amend the lawsuit and continue their case.

Liesel Pritzker, 19, and her brother, Matthew Pritzker, 21, say they were cheated out of more than $1 billion under an agreement reached by their relatives to divide the family fortune. They have sought at least $5 billion in punitive damages.

The family's major holdings include Hyatt Corp., with estimated 2001 revenues of $2 billion, and the Marmon Group, which holds a number of manufacturing and financial service companies and has assets estimated at $7.2 billion.

The young Pritzkers are suing their father, Robert Pritzker, and dozens of much older half-siblings and cousins.

The siblings are among 12 surviving grandchildren of Abram Nicholas Pritzker, the financier, industrialist and family patriarch who died in 1986.

Liesel Pritzker is an actress who performs under the name Liesel Matthews. She starred in the movie "The Little Princess" and played the president's daughter in "Air Force One."

Well, it is sort of their money. Many families deal with this crap . . . including my own. Granted, maybe I'm a bit more apathetic than they are b/c my family issues had 3 less zeroes.

Why if they were cheated out of $1bn do they deserve anywhere close to $5bn?

Money doesn't buy happiness, Dave. Why are you so jealous of those who have the former? It shouldn't effect your happiness in the least . . .

Certainly not. If I had a Billion dollars or so I certainly would not give a crap about some other billion dollars floating around some other family members. You may feel that a Billion dollars is not enough money in a lifetime. You must be a corrupted rich boy yourself.

Uh huh, and what about the bullcrap from low income neighborhoods? The REAL thugs from low income neighborhoods not only tie up the legal system but they end up going to prison and costing the taxpayers a LOT more. Let's see, three square meals a day, room and board, plus a whole bunch of other amenities. Why aren't you talking about them, Dave? Obsessed with the rich?

So, if you had a 10 billion dollars and someone stole 5 billion from you. You wouldn't care? You wouldn't try any legal action to get it back?

You'll see that the people around here not only think just that - but they also advocate it.

Since both are just reaching(19 and 21) their majority it would be interesting to know when the agreement was signed and what their parent/guardian agreed to in their stead.

NO one mentioned the money being stolen, it certainly appears from the reports it's money they feel they are entitled to. Big difference.

Dave: Warren Buffet has been preaching for years that corporations don't pay enough taxes. This isn't just an acute "Bush-only" type of issue. Buffet also made similar remarks while Clinton was in office.

Very true, the problem has certainly been "amplified" by the Policies of the sitting administration to the point of giving away the basket along with all the eggs.

holy topic change batman....

With regards to the first issue and that of inheritance...I would really have to see the wording of the will before comming to a conclusion..if they were in fact cheated out of something they were supposed to get then I would agree they are entitled to it and those who did the cheating should pay something of a fine....

With re. to Warren Buffet...who knows what his motivation is....my guess would be winning the left for a political move?

either way who really cares? Dave is obviously a strong Robin Hood supporter...steal from the ritch and give to the poor...which is a popular position to be in if you are yourself are not wealthy and envious.....
