I had cable for several years, but it was always spotty. Sometimes I went days without decent service.

When the wife and I bought a house, we couldn't get cable because it's not offered out here. So we got DirecTV and Bellsouth DSL Extreme. While the speeds aren't the fastest, it has been a rock solid steady connection for the past year. <knocks on wood>
