This is probably more useful for college students like myself who don't want to sign up for monthly long distance service plan.

www.bigzoo.com

This is basically like an online calling card. 2.9 cents/min anytime. No fee per call. 75 cent fee every month; but still ends up being cheaper than anything i've found up here in bay area.

You get a pin # after you sign up. Works like a phone card; dial the access #, enter your pin, then enter the number you wanna call. It is rather annyoing to dial the access # each time you want to make a long distance call, but i got around it by programming it (along with my pin#) on my speed dial.

Think you have a better rate? if so pls post

Ok, this probably isn't a "better" deal, but if you want 5 cents a minute all the time with just a 10-10 number use 10-10-811. It's 5 cents a minute 24-7, and no monthly fee, no sign up, etc. It's been that way for months now.

Sam's club has some great deals on phone cards. I can't remember the price per minute, but it just dropped. I think it's around 4 cents per minute now.

I guess technically one can claim no fee with 10-10-811 or 10-15-335, but they have a minimum charge of ten minutes per call. Both charge USF, 6.9% for 10-15-335 and no info for 10-10-811.

that is why bigzoo is nice. especially if you can get in at area where its 3.6 and you don't have to hassel with that busy 1888 number if anyone can find a better deal then bigzoo please share. maybe even a phone card for 4 cents a minute. no connection charge would be nice just to have in case bigzoo is real busy.

If you have a computer, then you could try www.mediaring.com. no fee and totally free. not good quality and have bothering delay but it's free....as long as you can stand it and use it in some not busy time.

If you're a college student living in a dorm which doesn't allow 10-10 dialing, BigZoo really comes in handy.

I've been using bigzoo.com for months. Its great. I can't wait for them to get a local # in my area so I can drop from 3.9c to 3.6c/min. Still, I've never had their toll-free # be busy. Saved me a ton.

I recently heard about bigredwire.com. it's 5cents/min but you can "zap" a call (up to $5) a couple days after you make the call if you login to their website & (the theory is, make you see some ads).
Slightly more complicated than that because they have this curreny called "volts" and you can make volts by making calls or browsing through their portal, etc...

just read:

Acedaddy if you upgrade your account you have access to 2 other 888 numbers, they haven't been busy yet for me.

moolman, are you sure 101-6868 has 5 cents/min? Their site shows 7.9 cents/min.

I use them alot for international calls. For many countries, they are by far the cheapest.

I have been using BigZoo for a couple of months now ... it is quite good, though I must admit it is very difficult to get thru their toll free # at times. However, if you keep on trying you WILL get thru it 5-6 trials.

The 75 cents monthly fee is ONLY if you upgrade your account to use the other toll free numbers. If you use the standard one (1-800-400-9579) you don't have to pay any monthly fee.

You can open your account with $5, but then onwards the minimum recharge amount is $10.

I'd say give it a try with $5 and see if you like it. It might be worth it.

if you use more than $25 of long distance, you can go to www.cnmnetworks.com and sign up for unlimited long distance in the US. after you open an account...you just go to their website and look up their local number and you dial it, enter you're pin, then the number you want to call. and maybe you can also share this account with some friends...i use it and i think its cool...but that's just my opinion..oh well...
lol

bumping thread since bigzoo has now lowered rates to 2.9 cents/min if you call using a local access #; the price is 3.9 cents/min if you use their 1-800 number to place calls

wow! It looks like they just lowered their international rates also!

For example:

United Kingdom $0.0454
Australia $0.0734
India $0.5500
Israel $0.1100
Hong Kong $0.0600
Thailand-Bangkok $0.3350
Taiwan $0.1050
Germany $0.0654

Here is their new Rate Page.

Who out there has all the extra 1-888 numbers for people who upgraded their service (75 cents/month)? I remember there being 2-3 extra numbers when they first came out with the upgrade, but they only gave me 1 extra.

Sam's Club web site has 4.16 cents/min calling card with no connection fee. Or if you bought a calling card already at Sam's club, you can recharge at 4.16 cents/min

Dan & everybody, I called AT&T through my sams club card and was quoted 5.9c/min. Then when I mentioned the number 4.16c/min he went on hold for only about 15 seconds and then gave me that rate. Thanks!

<edit> wouldn't you like to know :D ;)
