My floppy drive keeps making access noises when I log on off or power down. I went into the BIOS to disable it completely (floppy seek at boot was off) the computer would not boot, it got stuck at the part where the HDs should show. WTF is going on? I never use the floppy, is it mad at me and trying to get attention?

Asus P4PE MB.

for problem1:
virusscanners often check for floppies on shutdown to make sure there is none with a bootsector virus.
for problem 2:
look for an option in your bios that sais: "halt on" and tehre you should select something like none, or something.
it is possible that your bios does not support this, but most likely it will.

Ok I tried finding a setting in Norton 2004, no go.

I tried various things in my BIOS, but if I disable the floppy the computer will not boot, WTF?? I did everything short of pulling the cable out.

Basically everytime I logoff or shut down the computer accesses the 3.5"

Anymore ideas guys?

Floppy seek has always been off, but I cannot disable it from the main BIOS screen, it won't boot. I've never heard of anything like this.
