Silly question here: I just got a "free" used floppy drive that doesn't work. Light doesn't come on, OS doesn't register the presence of a floppy drive. A quick inspection showed that one of the gold pins where the floppy cable plugs in is missing. It is the one second from the left on the lower row. Is it supposed to be missing? Reason I ask is that it looks clean--no remnant of a bent pin or anything, just a neat square hole where a pin might reside.

I don't have another drive to compare it to, so I hope you guys know about this ancient piece of hardware :D

It's suppose to be missing. Are you sure you didn't put the cable on backwards?

 OMG--Yes, I did put the cable on backwards, but wait!--I have a good excuse--the damn floppy drive accepts the cable both ways even though the plug is notched . . . guess it's bi :D Thanks for the quick replies. Now I can enjoy yesteryear's technology again. (While listening to the 80s station and playing a ROM emulator . . . )
