Hello,
I have a brand new 3.5 floppy drive that I checked out in another machine. In my computer, the green floppy drive light is continuously on and the drive is not functioning. Could ther be some problem in the BIOS or elsewhere?

JIM

PS the device manager shows all OK

Turn the cable around at the drive. It is upside down.

what he said :)

I saw floppy cables that fit perfectly on the floppy in both the good position or the reversed one. Making matters worse is the fact that on some floppy drive the cable was with the red wire to the power connector and on other floppy drives (other models, other producers) the red wire would be at the side

I think you need to remove the floppy from the system, dunk it in ice cream, lick it all off, sacrifice a small animal to your local diety, Paypal me 30 bucks, and then put it back in, reversing the cable.

I remember many times I use to plug the floppy cable in upside down. Maybe it's all in my head but every time I did it. WHen I put a floppy in (before I realized what I did) the disc would mysteriously die.

glad HD's didn't do the same thing :)
