Hi I was running 2 4870s crossfired for 10 months(One was a visontek and one a XFX). One day out of the blue my computer monitor started going blank. I looked in my case and saw the fans on my cards weren't spinning. I took the cards out and sent one to Visiontek to fix(It smelled burnt) and had XFX send me a fan and heat sink for the other. When I get the fan and heatsink from XFX I repaired my card and put it in my case.I can see the fan spinning on the card, so I surf the net for a few hours when suddenly my screen goes black. I look in my case and the fan is not spinning.
I had thought it was a coincidence when the fans on my two cards died. But now with this replacement fan that died on the XFX card I am not sure.
I think this is a side issue but after I uninstalled my XFX card for the second time that I also got a CMOS error and that my computer said it was recovering. This is the second time I had bios problems. The first time my bios reverted back to a previous bios(After a 5 month period).
I am thinking I should replace my board, but then maybe it is just those two cards. I would appreciate any insight anyone could offer.
These are my system specs:
x3 720
Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P
Silverstone 750 Watt
4 GB DDR 2 800
