I have just flashed the 1004 beta 14 BIOS dl from asus site on my P4B533-V. This version allows you to use 3:4 ratio above 133 FSB. So I am dancing my 1.6a at 170 FSB @1.65volt (AsusBIOS) and running my SAMSUNG 256 MB PC2700 at DDR453 with 2.85Vdimm. cas 2.5/3/3/6. Been running prime95 tortue test all night :)))))))

Can you explain what that ratio means? I have a KR7A and I think it has 4:2:1 but not sure what it means.

rIpTOr, the 3:4 ratio is an fsb-to-memory ratio (more commonly seen as the CPU : DRAM ratio). so now that the new bios allows the 3:4 ratio above fsb speeds of 133MHz, hobbit is running his system at 170MHz fsb while using the 3:4 ratio. this means that while his fsb clock is at 170MHz, his memory clock is at 227MHz (170 x (3/4) = 227). since his system uses DDR memory, a memory clock of 227MHz will yield a DDR speed of 453MHz (227 x 2 = 453).

Hobbit, congratulations, that's excellent. You are very lucky with respect to your CPU and memory.

Are you using air-cooling?

I could go above170 to 176 FSB but I need more volt (1.7v in BIOS which is about 1.77v actual for ASUS). But the mobo will give me frquent beeps which I don't know what it means. I just guess that it's a warning of overvolting before I fry my CPU. So I settle with 170FSB (1.65v which is 1.728 actual max). with no nagging beeps. I have decided to back down my RAM to be just DDR425 (4:5) @ 2.7v. RAM prices are expensive now and I don't want to risk frying my RAM with 2.85v :(

And Yes, I am using air cooling. AVC Sunflower 56/31 cpu/mb celsius at full load (prime95 torture test)

I went between the 1004 final and the 1004 14 bios several times last night. There seem to be some problems with running memory at high speeds on the 14 bios because with the 1004 final I was able to run my samsung memory at 4:5 405 162FSB and the memory turbo turned off and everything was completly stable. After flashing to 1004-14 beta I had to back the memory down to 1:1 to run anywhere even close to 160FSB. No other settings were changed. It was as if the disable memory turbo option was not doing anything.

Has anyone else seem anything similar?
