3 -> 4 pin adapter for cpu fan?

I just received my 3 -> 4 pin adapter for my CPU fan since I'd rather use the power supply instead of the motherboard. The 3 pin connector on this adapter has only 2 pins. Is this correct? Thanks!

It is correct.
the 3rd pin is for fan rpm (which you can't use with the adapter)
