3/4" or 1/2"?

Should I get a 3/4" set of socket & drive, or stick with 1/2" set drive and get adapter ++ cheater bar for the couple of time a year (several weeks) that I need greater than 7/8" socket, and the occasional time that need greater than 1" socket?

For the last few weeks I had to pull 1-1/8" bolts with spud wrenches and I lost a few layers of skin and still have a hard time at stopping water leaks (20" pipe flange at 200 psi water pressure).

Thanks

get 2 socket sets

i have a 1/4inch set to cover all the small sizes (good for taking of panel covers and things like that)

And i have a large set 1/2 inch, which i use for doing large stuff, like wheel nuts or compressor brackets.

i use stilsens for anything bigger than that ie rotor locks

If you regularly have to use a cheater bar, get the 3/4 inch. You'll easily strip the ratchet gears in the 1/2 inch.

I have deep socket set for 1/4" and 3/8" drive for my battery impact gun. I tend to use spanner wrenches for larger sizes, but recently I have to work with larger pipes, because the company that I'm currently working with also specialize in waterworks, hence the bigger bolts/pipes.

In that case, 3/4".

There goes $230-$400

I was hoping that I don't have to spend money on a few lbs of metal.

I could but the tool quality is terrible if they purchase it due to tool abuse from past employees.

You don't want to pull on sloppy wrench/socket.

Might as well get it in black. Woman go crazy for black.
Don't need to go black because my pipes are definitely have gotten bigger since I start pulling wrenches ;)

I'd get just the common ones like 1 1/8, and a couple of ways to drive them. If you get a full set you will get tired of lugging that weight around in your truck, box etc. Most sizes you will never use.
<--------------(Installs ductile iron mains and valves and the like. Only carry what sizes I need.)

Unless you need the 3/4 for job you will hardly need them at home unless you do auto repair like engine rebuilding. That is basically what I use mine. That said, having all three sizes gives one piece of mind of knowing you have the tools to get the job done if you need them.
