OK!

Currently have 2 Dell 24" monitors at 1920x1200. Love em. Great stuff. I want to add a third. Thing is, I want to add either the 17" or MAYBE the 30", if the money gods allow it. What I need to know is what I need to run such a setup. I will likely go ATI (or AMD, whatever), but will a single 6970 be able to push 3 monitors like that? 30 in the middle, 24s on each side? Eventually I'd like to add a 4th little guy, maybe a 19, just to test websites on.

Any idea if this will work? And would I be able to run Eyefinity stuff on the 3 bigger ones?

THanks!

Both Eyefinity and NvSurround require all displays to run at the same resolution and refresh rates.

To expand slightly on that, you can run non-uniform monitors on an AMD card, but will not be able to group them as a single display. At best you can set them up via Windows as extended displays. Just make sure one or more of the monitors can run from Displayport, or be prepared to buy an active adapter. So for gaming, you'd be limited to 1 monitor, but you should be able to use all of them connected to the card (like the 6970) as extended displays.

For 3 monitors, nV requires two cards in SLI.

For any decent frame rates, you'll want 2 69xx series cards anyway, which is probably why nVidia only does surround with 2 cards! Some games are possible with 1 card, thought why anyone would spend the money for 2 x LCD and only have 1 card to drive them?...<shrugs>
