Go to Raleigh and hang Red Wings flags on your vehicle I'm not sure if you will get out of town or not though.

We already have enough of you guys down here so I suggest the Adirondacks or the Finger Lakes. ;) If you insist though there is a lot of country within a 6 hour drive of NYC. All depends on what type of activities you are looking for. There is a lot to see and do in Washington DC. The Smithsonian could easily eat up 4 days if you came here.

I have to agree, DC has a great nightlife. I'd never been exposed to it until my gf and I visited her cousins there last year. We had a great time at the bars and clubs in Adams Morgan.

Why down south?

If you have never been, I'd suggest going NORTH and staying in New York State (barely). Just follow Interstate 81 to the last exit in the U.S. - and you'll be in the Thousand Islands. Visit Alexandria Bay, explore Boldt Castle, and take some awesome boat trips around - the islands are FANTASTIC!

That is the route we starting using to travel from Virginia to Montreal and you are right. That is a gorgeous area and everytime we go through there I cannot help but wonder what occupation would allow me to live in a place like that.

Ok, if the south is where ya wanna go - I can recommend Tennessee if you like the outdoors. Go to Sevierville or Pigeon Forge. I HIGHLY recommend going to the Smokey Mountains. I hiked the Chimney Tops trail to he summit (~4000+ feet if I remember). The view from the summit was AWESOME!

Ah...the Smokies. I spent many falls/winters there with my family hiking. The Chimney's were a great hike. I'd love to go back to Gatlinburg...haven't been there in years.

Myrtle Beach

Personally, I wouldn't go there again if someone paid me. What a craphole. Guess I'm spoiled by the gorgeous beaches of the FL panhandle.
