3:2 screen laptops - if only more people tried them...

For someone who grew up when 4:3 screens were the standard, I have to admit: just trying a 3:2 laptop for 2 days in 2020 was such a pleasure (and quite shocking as well).
Have you used any 3:2? Acer? Surface?

The way I see it, younger generation just never had the privilege - so they don't know what they're missing.
And people aged 30+ - who were very vocal when PCs slowly moved to movie-optimized screen - simply gave up already.
So we ended up with a market that just got used to the awful 16:9 and doesn't demand an alternative. :/

I can only hope that at least 16:10 becomes more popular thanks to MacBooks and XPS.

The laptop I used was the Acer Swift 3 with 1035G4. And I probably would buy instantly if it had 16GB RAM (and there are 16GB models with 16:9 screens...).
I hope 3:2 screens (ideally, with slightly lower resolution) will become more present in the Tiger Lake lineup...

I can definitely see the uses for 3:2, but 16:10 is the sweet spot for me. I need a mix of horizontal area to run apps side by side as well as enough vertical space for text.

Literally a few days after the post Asus announced the 3:2 Zenbook S. No reviews yet, but if it's as good as most Zenbooks, this could be the easiest PC choice in my life.

I'd probably prefer something from Dell, but I'm afraid they'll keep 16:10 screens for higher price range (not to cannibalize XPS).

I remember being derided for saying that 16:9 screens were horrible on laptops. How the tables have turned!

i was marveling at the huge bottom bezel on the hp x360 the other day. we don't put up with huge bezels on phones and maybe that's making its way to laptops and going back to a bit more square of a screen.
