why is it i can always count on dennil to post in a song-related thread? :^D

ok, i just downloaded all those songs to hear what you consider to be "better" transitions...they're garbage in comparison. i know we're not judging the entire song, just the transition, so i won't even get into how bad that song by shakespeare's sister is... i love floyd, really i do, but there's not nearly as much power to wish yoou were here as there is in layla. i mean, clapton hits us with some hard rock/blues riffs for over three minutes, including a drawn-out solo, and then fades effortlessly into a piano and slide guitar. as far as the gerry rafferty song goes, at least it's a decent song. i think you got the times wrong, or i have a different version, because nothing happens at the time you specified. i did hear what i think you were referring to both earlier and later in the song, but they don't have the same "head you this way - now we're going this way" feel to them. i think it must be because i'm a much bigger clapton fan than any of those other groups, but who knows?

...and yay michael went unto the people, for he had delivered them from the unholy pineapples, and it was good...

Okay, this is to light up the thread:

1) Keith Jarrett / The Köln Concert / Suite II - Part B (track nº 3).
The whole song is absolutelly beautiful, but on 12:00m forwards, it's bliss. Heavens' piano.

2) Eric Clapton / Unplugged / Old Love
The improvised solo. Stunning performance.

3) Al DiMeola, Paco de Lucia & John McLaughlin (The Guitar Trio) / Friday Night in SF / Fantasia Suite
The three playing together aprox 6:40m.

4) Satriani, Johnson, Vai / G3: In concert / Red House
Although the video version kills the CD version by far, the guitar soloing is amazing.

Go to napster and listen to these songs ... it'll sure have an impact on you.
