I just picked up a new 3.0c product code SL7Bk. It supposed to be the new 3.0c M0 stepping. Hopefully I can get some serious performance out of this sucker:D

Well the whole rig is up and running now. I am up to 3.52 still on stock vcore, so I am more than happy with this chip. I expect this thing to to get me 3.7 but have to take and slow and run checks after every FSB bump. Full load temps are 47 idle around 38.

Wow! Thats pretty sweet! I have a feeling that once you have to start bump up the VCore though you wont scale as good. But if you manage to reach 4GHz on air.. man I would be really impressed!

This chip runs a really low vcore. It varies between 1.475 and 1.536 in Asus Probe. My 2.6c was constant between 1.575 and 1.6 on stock vcore.

You can find out the stepping buy downloading Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility from intel.com.

What I want to know is how do you find out the stepping of a CPU you're going to order from a place like newegg for example.

i think stepping is like a revision of the processor.
best one is suppose to be m0 stepping but my D1 stepping (30 cap) 2.8c is at 3.5 stock voltage, so i guess that's pretty good.. also the overclockability of the chip isn't guaranteed, someone with m0 stepping chip might suck compared to another person's.

i don't think u can find out (or can u?), there are some online resellers that allow you to pic a specific stepping or sSpec i think at an additional cost.

the product codes on the side of the retail box will tell you the stepping. CPU-Z app will show the stepping as well. Usually the 30 cap chips oc the best but nothing is guarentee and what you have in your rig can limit it too.
