It never occurs to me to play. Just doesn't seem worth it. I haven't even purchased a scratch off since I became old enough.

Oh my!! I just realized that I picked 19,50 on one ticket and it and those same two numbers (19,50) were chosen as part of my PowerBall quickpick!!! :eek:

What are the chances?

Pretty high if you bought them at the same store at the same time. I did 3 quick picks before(same visit) and all 3 of them shared 2 numbers. Obviously they didn't win.

There are those ignorant enough to say that when the expected value is > 1, e.g. when the payout is greater than the odds of winning, that you should play. Anyone know the mathematical term that disproves this?

i wish people who played the lottery would keep track of how much they've spent/lost versus how much they win. it's not rocket science there.
