Hi everyone! lol...

okay here's my scenario.... my friend has an intel 3.0 ghz processor which he took out of a dell pc... the processor is a pinless Socket T LGA 775 design and i'm trying to help him pick out a good motherboard to go with his setup. Thus far he has the BFG 7800GT and the processor but as far as motherboard and ram, we're still undecided... ram probably won't be an issue because i should be able to find what i'm lookin for with this build...

but like i said my main concern is the motherboard, i want a quality, brand name board that can support this type of processor and it must have a PCI x16 Slot for the gfx card.... as far as price, it's not really a concern but obviously i dont want to buy something thats rediculously high in price for no reason...

I did a search on newegg and found some results but the thing is i havent really been up to date with all the computer hardware like i used to be so opinions and suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks,

Ayman =)

The Asus P5WD2 is an awesome Intel board. Pair that up with some OCZ Gold PC2 6400 and you'd have a rockin machine.

Look at Gigabyte and ABIT. I was searching thier site for a motherboad the other day and I could only find one with an AGP slot.

Ive used alot of boards for DDR2/1 on Intel for my testing with mushkin. The only ones that are worth a damn are the P5WD2/P5LD2 for PCI-E and Abit's AS8 for AGP. Abit's AW8 and AL8 are pretty good as well but I prefer Asus over Abit in this instance.

The ones you want to stay away from are any Nforce4 IE and Gigabyte's 8I955X Royal (really disliked the one I had)

hmm now that i look at everything, it seems if my friend is going to use that processor, it requires a motherboard that consists of newer technology such as the PCI x and the DDR2 ram slots... so i mean either way he's going to spend money wether its towards the ram or the gfx card so i might as well just buy a good quality motherboard ... i'll just do that
