Bleh...take summer school, take a year off, take classes at a community college...there's lots of options to catch up and steer back into the direction you want

But seriously, first thing: don't panic.

You have no idea how common it is for folks to change majors. It's the norm, not the exception. You are not alone.

Being in college isn't just about learning information to use for future employment, it's also about finding out who you are.

Be forthright with your parents, tell them you tried engineering but it's not for you, and that you need to explore other areas. Hopefully they'll be understanding and not just be thinking with their checkbooks.

Remember, money doesn't grow on trees, these are tough economic times. A college education is a luxury, not a right. If your parents cannot afford another 4 years while you figure out what you want out of life, you have to be realistic and understanding of their financial limitations as well.

Good luck,

Accounting majors do well and usually end up in upper management later in life.
Pharmacy is good for the quick 80K per year but never really goes up:(

i dunno, just feel like i've failed myself sometimes

chill pill, life is about setbacks, wash you face and focus on the situation for what it is. this won't be the first time in the world somebody has got to think about the 'proper' investment into school.

some people don't get to realize until they're 40 years old that they wanna do something else.

do not worry, take some time off if needed but always go back if you do, don't end up dropping out ;)
