What would work better--> I'm setting up a workstation for a friend at her home. Her line of work requires several spreadsheets, MS word, Outlook and stock ticker etc. all to be open. At her office she has 4 monitors (nice!) to allow efficient cross refferencing. Now she wants to have a similar setup at home (it's hard to get used to one display again!). With 1-AGP slot and a few PCI slots to work with, what combination of video cards should we concider? (Duron 900mhz, 256mb, win2000)

start with a matrox g450. you can get them for under 100 bucks these days. they have dualhead support built in (i.e. two displays) and work GREAT with all operating systems and hardware.

in fact, if she wants FOUR monitors at home, i can't think of anything better than TWO g450's...one agp, one pci

/me is dumb

huh, i guess they don't. never really thought about it, but your right. 450's are only agp :p

well, i'd try to stick with all matrox cards. perhaps find two old g200's for the third and fourth monitor.

Search on pricewatch, I just found a Matrox G450 PCI version (16MB memory, DualHead)
Here's a link to it from Axion Tech.

Even better, here's a Matrox G100 card with the ability to output to 4 monitors simultaneously ... Only 1 card required!!!
