2x8GB G.Skill Memory Upgrade Questions

Hello. I have a P8Z68-V PRO motherboard with a stock clocked i7 2600k and I'm currently swapping out my ripjaws (G.Skill 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 RL 9-9-9-24) as I don't have enough clearance for additional 2x4GB modules due to my hefty heatsink.

I'm not sure what timings or speed would be good choice as a replacement.

I have a few options from Umart:
G SKill 16G(2x8G)DDR3 2400Mhz PC3-19200 F3-2400C11D-16GXM 11-13-13-31 $208.00
G SKill 16G(2x8G)DDR3 2133Mhz PC3-17000 F3-2133C10D-16GXM 10-12-12-31 $199.00
G Skill 16G 2x8G) DDR3 1600MHZ PC3-12800 CL7 F3-1600C7D-16GTX 7-8-8-24 $199.00
G Skill 16G(2x8G) DDR3 1333 PC10600 F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL Timing 9-9-9-24 $198.00

I'd like to stick to $200.00 but I'm unsure which might be the best bang for buck and would appreciate any advice.

...because of the tighter timings.

Give us voltage information on the DIMMs in question.

Thankyou.

@ 1.65v is the 2400 and 2133. I'm on Sandy bridge so not sure if I can even go upto 2400.

The 1600 and 1333 are @ 1.5v

If anything it seems to be between the CL10 and CL7 for the same price.
CAS 7/1600mhz x 2000 = 8.75
CAS 10/2133mhz x 2000 = 9.37

My main query is whether a 2133 at CL10 1.65v is better than 1600 at CL7 1.5v at the same price.

My current part's list is here if it's relevant:
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS10X Extreme Ball Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Storage: Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12G 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7

What type of heatsink? I have the same motherboard, the same processor and the same G.SKILL GBRL RAM. Or -- to be more precise -- I was running two 2x4GB kits = 16GB until five months ago. The GBRL's are still good, but I replaced them with a 2x8GB DDR3-1866 GZH kit:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-625-_-Product

These have the same timings and voltage spec as the GBRL 1600 kits.

My 4x4GB of GBRL modules fit under my NH-D14 heatsink -- just barely. I don't want to describe the hassle of getting the one module closest to the CPU in there, or worse -- getting it out (without removing the D14.)

If you really must replace the two 2x4 kits with a 2x8 kit, I think the GZH modules are the best bet. I was able to over-clock the GBRL (1600) modules to 1866 with timings 10,10,10,28 at about the same voltage. The GZH modules run stock at 1866 with timings 9,9,9,24 and voltage 1.5V.

It's a Zalman CNPS10X. I weighed up the pros and cons of searching for low profile ram and getting a new sink and getting the same 2x4GB modules but my main limitation is that I have to buy local and since a 212+ didn't fit, I might run in the same issue with a new heatsink.

Newegg does ship to Australia, however, it might take some time and I can't be bothered dealing with international DOA's.

This also means that the module you've recommended isn't available locally unfortunately so I've gone with the CL7. D:

Interesting! The Trident X kits. And 1.5V -- good. You may want to try loosening the timings on those to 9,9,9,24, goosing them up to 1866Mhz and see if they're rock-solid on 1.5V. You could probably tweak them higher in a 1.5-to-1.55V range if they don't quite cut the mustard at 1.5.

But also, as everyone says, you don't notice a difference between these speeds -- not much.

The price I see at the Egg in US dollars is not exorbitant -- about what you'd expect for the RipJaws kits. And the stock timings are pretty darn good, too . . .

I would think those are certified for your Z68 board, but you can check the G.SKILL configurator link. I'd be willing to bet you'll find them among the ones I'm sure of.
