So, I have an 8800gts 640 already and was wondering what is the best route to go. The games I want to play in all its glory on a 24" lcd (1920x1200) are: Hellgate London, StarCraft II, maybe Crysis (oi!), WoW, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, Call of Duty 4, BioShock, Left4Dead, World in Conflict, etc... I just want to know which method would alleviates the graphic barrier the most. Thanks,

How long have you owned the 640mb 8800? You are most likely best off waiting till newer videocards hit the market, sell the 8800gts 640mb, and go with a single card solution.

Keep your single Geforce 8800 GTS 640, which should be more than enough for right now depending on what games you play. Save the rest of the money for the next nvidia video cards because your going to want to upgrade when the new video cards come out.

Only buy a new video card based on the games you want to play today with it. Don't worry to much about future games because by the time they come out there will be a new video card you will want to get the best performence out of the new games.

I think 1xGTX will do more on performance or about the same but cost little less.

I've had the 8800gts 640 for >8 months now. Is it better to buy an 8800gts for ~300 to set up SLI?

Try not to buy a graphics solution for future games. It almost never works out favorably for the buyer. Games get delayed. Often. Re-evaluate your graphics card situation again once you cannot play a particular game at the settings/details you want. Once that happens, the landscape could be totally different. A single GTS can handle 19x12 pretty well right now. Crysis might put an end to that... but, by that time, there could be a new generation of cards out, and give you a lot more options.

Only games released and upcoming that would really benefit from SLi I think are Supreme Commander and Crysis. With the lack and quality of SLi profiles for games, it just doesn't seem worth it most of the time.

Alright, thanks for the advices, I'll hold off for a better card. BTW, any articles on the upcoming "new" graphic card?

The 9800 will hit the market in November.
