Topic says it all... Which of these 2 configs gives best performance for gaming (COD2/FEAR/Oblivion) at 1600x1050 on 20" Widescreen and also some DVD viewing.

Want to stay around $350.

Would a single 7600GT choke at this resolution?

Antec P180
Antec TruePowerII 550W
2 GB OCZ Plat or Corsair XMS
EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" or SLI depending on card

PSU adequate for SLI?

Also...

eVGA vs. XFX vs. BFG...

Opinions?

I think the general thought around here is a single more powerful card is always better than two lesser cards.

Plus you get around all the SLI issues, less tearing, and no vsync problems.

evGA 7900GT - price and performance is close, you can either save on the MB by not getting the SLI version or get the SLI MB and then add a 2nd 7900GT down the road if you want. Single card gives you another slot, all games support it, fewer possible driver issues, probably cooler and uses less power.

Another good option is an X1800XT 256MB... They go for under $300 on newegg. Nice card if you're open to ATI.

7900GT is a great card. if you like to overclock the card can become a freakin moster.

7900GT would be better than 7600GT's in SLI. financially too. besides, the 7900GT will be able to play newer games at higher resolutions/graphics, while the 7600GT will be playable below that.

though having no extra power is a great feature for the 7600GT, the main reason why i hesitate to get it is because even though its 256MB GDDR3, its 128-bit memory interface turns me away.

i'd rather spend 100 bucks more and get the 7900GT if i were you. arent the 7900's 300 bucks and the 7600's 180? 2x7600's will set you more than 350, while one 7900GT will set up around 300ish.

7900GT!!!

Absolutely, but IMHO the 7900GT will have a overclock advantage if the OP wants that.

7900GT/X1800XT.

Say no to dual video card solutions when possible :)

I think it has been shown pretty consistantly that cheaper cards with less memory bandwith (7600s are only 128-bit) don't scale well enough in SLI to justify them over a single 7900-based card. Now, buying two 7900GTs is probably better than going with a GTX, though still very pricey. Typically, the price-per performance curve levels off a bit higher than where the 7600 series is positioned.

Bingo.

Did that to both of mine and got 640/1600.

Not sure I did it right though. Getting a multimeter tommorow so I can check to see if I did the memory right, cause it craps out around 1700, way too soon since all I see are 1850 and 1900's.

And WTF? My memory meter in coolbits only goes up to 900 (1800) mhz. How do I make it go higher?
