ok the corsair 2x2gb costs $300, the 2x1gb crucial costs $150.

2x2gb pros:
future upgradeablity
less stress on motherboard at 4gb
probably less heat
cons:
slower
less bling
not crucial

so after thinking out loud for a little while im still undecided. i figure that by the time i actually NEED to upgrade to 8gb of ram, ddr3 will be affordable anyway. i dont do too many RAM intensive tasks but i dont plan on upgrading for another 18 months or so. id love to hear your thoughts on my dillemma. i am split down the middle on this one. i am about to get 2 dog bones, assign one to represent crucial and the other corsair, and see which one my dog eats first lol

All i have to say is that if you'd like good 2x2 GB kits, don't look at anything but Mushkin.

They absolutely own that segment right now, as all the other manufacturers kits barely run the rated specs, & every Mushkin one i've seen reviewed or used OCs like wild (for a 2x2 kit).

Pure bang for buck is 4x1 GB these days though if you want 4 GB.

I just ordered two packs of 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066MHz Crucial Ballistix Tracers a few hours ago ($348 shipped, but worth it). I was in the same dilemma as you are (more bling and DDR3 prices). I can't wait to use these bad boys on my future Penryn :)

This is because they are using Micron D9GSV High Density IC's

Munchkin 2 x 2064 MB PC2 6400

I have the tight timed kit personally, but I have sold 20+ sets of this out on Client Machines.

It can run 1000 Mhz. without breaking a sweat.
