2x2GB! kit for ASUS P5W DH Deluxe what do you think?

You must be preparing for Vista. 😛

2x2 kits are VERY expensive. Not worth it, IMHO, unless you really NEED all that RAM.

this kit is almoust the same as 2 x 2x1gb kits ( anyway I want to get 4gb) question is will I need in future 8gb. For example for vista?

I don't think there will be a general need for 8gb for many years. Right now I wouldn't say there is a general need for 2gb, but it sure is nice to have.
The way I see it for general needs (obviously at the extremes this changes):
With XP SP2: 512MB is getting by, 1GB is good, 2GB is fantastic, 4GB is useless.
With Vista: 512MB is laughable, 1GB is getting by, 2GB is still great, 4GB still probably won't be touched much, but will be for 'power users', 8gb will be useless.

if you have Windows XP 32-bit, take in 2gigs

if you have Windows XP 64-bit, take in at least 4 gigs, it will utilize RAM better

otherwise, if you want to hear it, 2 gigs for gamers, 3 gigs for the fans, and 4 gigs for specific need

anything higher is far fetched for anyone's ears, it'll be a server/workstation comp from viewpoint.

its not overkill when ur rich..lol

Sure it is. If spending the extra money has absolutely no appreciable benefit, then it's overkill. That's pretty much the definition. There are only a handful of games that use >1GB at this point. Getting 4GB for a desktop system, much less 8GB, is just stupid.

Yes, it sends the message that you have money. It also sends the message that you're a tool.

I work hard for every cent I spennd on my rig. So I really don't want to just waste the money for nothing. I'm doing 3d so I though that more ram might be better but I think 4 gb should be ok.
