I am looking at building a new system for 3D design work. I have a question concerning certain ram in a motherboard.

Potential buys: Motherboard Memory

My question is: Will this memory work with this board? It is server memory and it says DDR2 800, but I'm not sure if there might be any issues with the non-server board. The reason I want to use this memory is because this motherboard has a max of 8GB, which I would like to fully utilize, but there are only 4 memory slots, so I need to find at least 2GB sticks of ram (which is what I have a link to now).

I just want to know if it should work, or if there are any potential issues I should consider. Also, I primarily use XP-Pro (32-bit OS) but I dont know if I might need to switch to 64-bit to use all the memory there (I dont even know if the motherboard is 64 compatible, or are all 2CD's 64-bit compatible?)).

I'm confused why you're looking at FB-DIMMs. This product costs 4X as much as normal RAM, and is normally only seen in enterprise-level Xeon servers.

Per my manual, this motherboard does not support buffered or registered RAM.

A 32-bit OS will only recognize about 3.3GB. To see it all, yes, you would need a 64-bit OS.

I was considering it because that motherboard supports up to 8GB of memory, but there are only 4 memory slots; so I need each stick of memory to be 2GB, not 1GB.
