the new dells with the dual channel will not accept CL2 memory in the first 2 banks, slot 1 and 2. It will however work in slot 3 and 4 if there is RAM in 1 and 2 with CL of 2.5 or worse. FYI

thats interesting pothead. My CL2 (Very aggressive 2-2-2-6) Hyper X 400mhz wouldn't run at 400mhz. With the 128mb CL3 chips in the first bank or Hyper X by themselves, the bios would clock then at 333mhz every time. Now the HyperX chips are in my gigabyte 8KNXP and they work fine at 400mhz 2-2-2-6.

Also, the latency of your ram will always have to downgrade to your slowest chip. If you have the stock dell CL3's, then whatever you put in the other banks will have to run at the CL3. If the board has slots which can't run lower then 2.5 then that means you can't run CL2 @400mhz no matter what config you use. :disgust:

Everyone keeps posting hot deals with the VERY RARE 20% off coupons that a few people received. Not a deal for the mainstream.
