I had been running two sticks of Kingston PC2700 512M ddr on the subject board running at 166/333. I took out one stick and now am able to run at 185/370. With DDR2 around the corner, I hestitate to buy another pair of 512M PC3200 DDR to run in dual channels mode. Should I use 1G existing memory to run in single channel mode or two 256M PC3200 to run in dual channels mode so I can get the best performance? Not sure if the 2x512M sticks can run in single channel mode overclocked however.

The board does support dual channels DDR. I was just wondering if there is any difference in performance between 1G single channel (using existing memory sticks) versus 512M dual channels (buying two new 256M sticks). I use my computer mostly for gaming, web surfing, and some simple video/picture editing.

I would stick with the 2 512's you started with, in dual channel mode, as there is no guarantee that a single 1 gig stick will reach the same speeds that the single 512 reached.

I am confused, if you had 2 512's, why weren't they in DC mode to begin with? They should have been.

Well the two 512M sticks were not purchased as a kit together. I couldn't get beyond 166/333 with the pair installed in DC mode. A light bulb came on and I took one stick out. I was then able to run at 183/366. Therefore came the question.
