2x250 gb SATA RAID1. Install Windows 2000?

I purchased a new PC to act as a file and application server.

The setup is as follows:
A64-3200 Venice
DFI LanParty nF4-D (4 SATA ports tried both combos 1&2,3&4)
2 gb RAM
2x250 WD SATA

I am trying to setup RAID1 with the 2 drives. I have both the disk providing with the motherboard for SATA and the updated 6.53 Nvidia drivers on floppy. I have Windows 2000 Server with SP4 slipstreamed on CD.

Windows 2000 install "detects" the drives as two separate 130gb drives. This is incorrect as the RAID utility reports that the mirror is properly set up as one 250gb drive. It can install but on reboot it doesn't detect. Frankly I think the way the drives are detected is the problem.

Is it possible to install Windows 2000 on this setup or do I have to use a smaller PATA drive for the OS?

Thanks
Rick

I should say that it passes the first stage of installation but after it restarts (where the Windows 2000 Splash would normally be seen) it doesn't find a bootable hard drive.

I have since tried as a test to install Win2000 on these drives when they are not using RAID and that works.
