2x1gig upgrade?

I have 2x512 corsair XMS platinum memory in my A8V Deluxe board with a venice 3200+. My next upgrade will be memory, would 2x1gig sticks be a smarter yet more expensive upgrade rather the 2x512 and be maxed at 2 gigs? 2 gigs would get me by and I do play BF2 and all intensive multi-player fps's.

Would the combo 2x512 and 2x1gig filling my board work?
After this I will upgrade my video card to a 6800 ultra AGP if they ever come down in price.

They would work, but I think they would be lowered to DDR333. I would suggest sell the 2x512MB and stick to the 2x1GB. 🙂

yeah ahah no need for over 2GB for awhile I think.

So go for the 2x512 and max it out at 2 gigs? That's probably a good idea as this will be my last AGP board.

He has a Venice, it'll do 4 sticks at full speed(DDR400) just fine.

2T doesn't impact performance that much.

I'm in the same boat 2x512MB wise. I want to move to 2x1GB, due to the fact I have a winchester right now, with a planned move to at least a 3800 in the future.

Step one, buy 2x1GB
Step two, Sell 2x512MB
Step three, Sell 6600 (6800gt in my case)
Step four, sell current AGP board
Step five, get the eVGA combo deal for 7800gt and mobo
Step six, enjoy new 7800gt with 2x1GB memory

FIN
