I'd like to buy some more ram but I would obviously rather spend enough for 1GB rather than buying a 2GB kit.

I currently have 2x512mb OCZ Gold (non-XTC) running at 850MHz 5-5-5-12 timings. Would I be able to put a set of 2x512mb OCZ Platinum XTC (rated for 4-5-4 timings at 800MHz) in with the other 2 sticks and expect the same overclock with all 4 slots populated?

Thanks for any help.

In theory everything should work fine as the DS3 is supposed to continue working fine in dual channel with RAM that is not exactly the same.

I will be testing this myself when I add RAM to my system. I currently have 2 x512mb of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 and will be adding 2 x 1024mb when I have the free cash. I am hoping all will work smoothly too.

at least when you get the 2gb kit you will still have room for another 2Gb kit and this will hold you for a very long time but you could still use your 2 512 and the 2Gb kit for a total of three gigs. i have yet to return to the "dark side" i love my AMD chips and when you filled them up with four sticks performanced suffered. im in no hurry to upgrade at this time but will probably make my move this Christmas depending on how good Barcelona will be. i could be buying a C2D system sooner than i think. very happy though with my Denmarks.
