AGP 4x offers double the theoretical bandwidth of AGP 2x. Last I checked, there was no real world performance increase when going from AGP 2x to AGP 4x, and there probably won't be one for a while. Anyway, I don't believe there is any good reason to upgrade your mobo for AGP 4x support.

AGP 4X provides twice the bandwidth of AGP2X. Having said that the real world performance difference between the two is usually 0-1% at most.

And stability with AGP4X is often horrible. Many users leave AGP to 2X to keep stability high, even tho their entire system is AGP4X "capable".
