Hi,

I have an Asus lower end motherboard. I'm running two GTX 670 on PCI 2.0 x8 slots. Will running them on a motherboard that has PCI 3.0 with x8 or x16 slots improve performance? Thanks.

Simple answer: No

Non Simple answer: Some apps may see minor improvements, nothing worth swapping a board for.

It will, but not by much. It won't increase the performance enough to justify the purchase of a new motherboard.

Hi, I have the Asus Z77-V LK. The manual says it can run x16 PCI Express or dual at x8 mode.

Maybe a couple % in certain situations, but I wouldn't worry about it.

With two 670's I went from 2 slots at pci-2.0 X8 to Pci-2.0 X16 slots. The only thing that improved was maximum FPS but nothing else. Instead of 130fps at max I got like 150. Mins and general FPS didn't budge one bit. I guess the extra bandwidth allowed for more max at the very top end but it didn't matter at all.
