2x DVD-RW Drives

Is there any problems using 2x DVD Burners in the computer. My dad seems to think there is, but i dont see what would prevent you from doing it.

i'm confused on the question...
do you mean whether or not one can isntall multiple dvd-rw drives into a computer? Or are you asking if it's ok to burn DVD-video discs at 2x speed?

both will work.

At first I thought you meant 2x speed DVD-RW drives...

No, there is no problem in using two as long as you have adequate resources to hook them up (power, room on ATA bus). What problems does he mean?

Well he claims that neither of the drives are recognized now. They are on the same IDE cable.

I told him that this should have NO effect. There is no reason why you cannot use 2. I guess ill have to take a look :

Make sure all the cables are connected, and that the pins are set (as stated by JesseKnows).

With them being on the same cable, I wouldn't attempt to burn from both at the same time -- you'll likely just end up with 2 coasters unless the drives have a pretty large buffer.

Otherwise, you shouldn't have any other problems.
