Well I am receiving a new Geforce 9600GSO for free thanks to XFX, but also play at a high resolution. I figured that I had two options,

Option one,

Buy another Geforce 9600GSO 384mb Card and run them in SLI

Option Two

Buy a HD4850 which means I spend a bit more money(>$40).

Which option would be best in general at a resolution of 1680x1050? Also, would a Quality 500watt PSU with 2 12v rails with 20a each on them be enough for the SLIed cards?

Well What if selling it wasnt an option? I mean I won it so I would rather keep it then sell it.

um, it doesn't exactly matter how you acquired it, does it? the 4850 probably isn't a whole lot faster than 9600 gso, aka 8800gs, but the extra memory, significantly better architecture, and ability to use a single card instead of dealing with the hassles of sli make it a no-brainer imho. sell the 9600gso while it still has some value and buy a 4850.

btw, if it's really only $40 more for a 4850 for you than for a 9600gso then is really a silly discussion. you will come out SIGNIFICANTLY better if you sell the 9600gso that you won. I understand why you're tempted to run sli since you do have an sli mobo, but honestly you're going to be cpu-limited with either setup. If you try to rectify the situation by upgrading your cpu/mobo then you'll have much more flexibility with the single card 4850, too.
