Why is there a 10C difference between the two? I guess I need to put some fans in this case, it's an Antec 300, but I don't have any of the fans hooked up right now.
The hot air from the bottom GPU envelopes the top GPU as it rises past it.

Test edit.

Wow, this is fucked. I posted this thread, and went to edit my original post (as that was all that was showing on my screen, but when I hit edit, the edit dialog came up with the above post, which appears to have been a reply to my post. Clicking Edit Message caused my original post to be replaced, and there doesn't appear to be a reply post.

Exiting back out to the topic list, and then refreshing, and then clicking on this thread again shows 1 reply, and BFG10K's reply showed up.

Larry, this could be my fault as I might've hit edit instead of reply by accident, but I can't remember. If I did this I'm sorry; feel free to add your content back if you remember it.

Anyways, RivaTuner 2.2.0 does have hardware monitoring for temps. But I can't seem to find any way to control fanspeed in RivaTuner. Does it just not work with Asus cards or something? I want to bump the fans up to 100%, but I don't know how.

PS. I actually cut myself on one of the fans when I was checking it with my finger. I didn't know that GPU fans were hazardous to your health.

It's there - click the top triangle and you'll find it under the video card icon (left-most icon).

Nope. Non-existant. I don't know if that's because RivaTuner 2.2.0 hasn't been updated yet to support the 180.70 drivers, or what. But there's no fan-speed tab anywhere.

Sounds entirely plausible to me ! Could you possibly use eVGA Precision instead ?

I have the exact same problem with one of my EVGA cards. No fanspeed control whatsoever, either in RivaTuner, Precision, or even trying a BIOS flash. My other two 8800GS/9600GSO cards are completely and easily controllable. No idea what's up with this particular card.

Got all four 9600GSOs installed into my F@H rig. Now video card temps on the two Asus cards exceed 100C! What can I do?

How exactly do you have four 9600GSOs in your rig?

I installed an Antec TriCool fan set on high on the side-panel of my Antec 300, and I have two TriCools as intakes in front, also set on high. I have the 120mm exhaust set on low, and the 140mm top exhaust set on low. I should probably set them on high, I don't know. Anyways, with those in place, I get max temps of 91C instead on my top Asus "Top" 9600GSO card. The EVGA cards are 71C (regular) and 77C (superclocked). So I guess that's workable.

error8, I have a K9A2 Platinum motherboard, with four PCI-E x16 slots.

I discovered something interesting.

On my friend's computer, with an IP35-E, E5200 @ 3.75Ghz, and an EVGA dual-slot 9600. He was using an older driver set, and uses EVGA PrecisionTool to overclock, and set the fan speed to 60-65%. Well, I upgraded his driver to 180.70 last time I was over, and now, I just checked PrecisionTool, and the fan speed option is completely greyed out. No slider, no "auto" button, nothing.

So it appears that PrecisionTool doesn't get along with the new 180.70 drivers.

But the funny thing is, with RivaTuner 2.2.0, and 180.70, on my machine, my Asus cards don't have fan speed adjustment, but my EVGA cards DO.

So I'm slightly confused as to what is going on here. I don't think that the fan speed is 60% anymore, as idle temps are now 60C+.

Edit: Found this on EVGA's site:
New in v1.3.3! Added fan control support for NVIDIA Forceware 180.xx drivers.
