Well, see the topic title and description. I was planning on 2x 512 MB TwinMOS CL2.5 RAM, but I heard getting 1 stick of 1 GB RAM would get more steady results. This true?

A single GB dimm will allow for better future upgradeability, since you can get another matching dimm later for 2 GB.

2x512 will likely perform better, since you'll have dual channel, & timings are always better on 512 MB dimms.

That being said, to get 2 GBs in dual channel later (if you plan to upgrade), you'd need 4x512 MB, which will have to run @ 2T instead of 1T.

Frankly, if you don't feel you'll need more RAM later, i'd just get 2x512 MB.

But considering how games are becoming so RAM hungry, it's only gonna be a matter of time...so i'd get 2x1024 MB if you can afford it.

It shouldn't really matter with an Athlon XP. However, if you plan on upgrading to an A64 any time soon, you'll need 2x sticks for dual channel.

Yeah i based my response around the fact he is building a new A64 system (or so i would gather from his SD or Venice thread in here).

Yeah, that's what I want to do also, upgrade to 2x 1 GB DIMM's. However, I'm still waiting for the bill for my CPU. :Q

OP: Also, keep in mind that you do not want to run 4 DIMM's in an A64 system if you can avoid it. If you plan on running 2 GB, then 2x 1 GB DIMM, instead on 4x 512 would be the best option.
