I currently have this hooked up to my A7N8X Deluxe R2.0 mobo.

Another trader had anrther one for cheap. Is it possible to, well, do what the title suggests?

You want to make a 4.2 system?

Yes. That would work.

Just plug the second set into your rear output (black jack) and it should work just fine.

You probably have a control panel that lets you toggle one of the jacks on the far right to either line/mic in to rear output. The green one is your fronts, the pink one probably doubles as rear-out, and the blue one probably doubles as center/sub out.

Unless those other two minijacks (under the parralell port) are your rear and center/sub outs. Check your manual to be sure.

Let me dig up a manual page to post.

These speakers connect with a single cable to the mobo, FYI.

Yeah, then setup the drivers to 4 speaker surround.

for setting up 5.1 the center and sub would go into the orage jack, but sounds like you will have 2x 2.1 setups that each have just one miniplug, and their own circutry for selecting sub frequencies, thus they would be treated by the drivers as a 4.0 setup.

Which is black?

Whoops, sorry.

Black is the standard color for the rear/surround output on a soundcard.

Yeah, just plug the two sets in to the green and purple jacks, select 4.1 output, and it should work just fine.

Will both subs work?

Yes, the computer will send out two stereo signals and each set of speakers will use its own crossover to send the low information to the sub.

Like Concillian said, the computer will output 4.0 for any 4.1/4.2 setup and it's the speakers that decide what info goes to the sub.

Does that make sense? I don't know if I'm explaining this well.

Make sure you have the cord length (or a proper extension) to get the speakers behind you! Standard speark cables I've found are very short and even my surround sound spearkers with about 2.5x the cable length are only barely long enough if I want to run them around one side of the computer (ie one has to go a longer distance so I don't have a cord hanging in the middle of the room). But yeah, you should be able to run a 4 speaker sound scheme with 2 sets of 2 speakers.

Good call on the extention cable.

I've had good experiences ordering from cablesforless for stuff (component cables etc.)

You can also get one at radioshack (or other stores like that too).

Only 7' cables, but if I stick the 2nd Sub behind me, that's another 7'. :D 14' SHOULD be enough for a dorm room, but thanks for the warning!
