2Wire.com says 1.9 Mbps SpeetTest.net says 33.69Mbps

I can run the tests again and 2Wire.com stays around 2 Mbps and SpeedTest.net stays around 30Mbps. One of them must be wrong. What is the deal?

The 2Wire.com speed test actually says that it's not really a bandwidth speed test (like Speedtest.net is) but just a test of how quickly that specific web page loads in the browser. http://www.2wire.com/bandwidth/represent.php

For example, my 30mpbs connection (which tests as such on all other speed tests) is rated at 5.2mbps on the 2wire.com site.

Several things impact your performance test from one site to another, the bandwidth available to the speed site, the route taken to get from you to the speedtest site as well as obviously the bandwidth you have available from you to your ISP.

I find speedtest.net to be a good place to go, but you need to make sure you check a few different servers. The closest physically isnt necessarily the closet and most optimal path.
