I have Windows 2000 Pro, and was wondering if it is normal for it to take 20 + seconds to shut down properly? It stays at the "saving settings" screen for like 20 seconds before shutting down. If this isn't normal, how can I fix it?

I also have a question about something very annoying with Windows Media Player 9. When I am browsing through my music files whenever I click a file on the left side of the screen this little menu that looks like this appears. I do NOT need this thing and it takes a long time for it to load the song or whatever the hell it does. Makes trying to browse around difficult as it'll lag when I click the next file as it keeps scanning the MP3's for length I guess. Any way to disable this? Uninstall Windows Media Player 9 possibly the only way?

I can't remember how long it takes W2K on my secondary computer to shutdown but, do you have an Anti-Virus program running on that computer? Does it have an option on there to scan on shutdown? Removing that option can help speed it up some, and also disabling for the scanning on booting up will help boot up speeds a hair.

For WMP9, I don't have it but I would look into the 'Options' (On the "big-player") to see if you see anything that might be putting that mini-player there in the window with your MP3's. Also, maybe right clicking (contextual window) on the mini-player may bring up something to check up on. If the right clicking works on the mini-player, if anything look at the properties on the contextual window....

No antivirus.

And I've tried looking in the WM9 options. I think I'll go through them one last time to be sure.
