Surveys all over always say people would buy an iPhone over other phones but just like on Verizon when the survey said 30% of subscribers would get the iPhone, what people say they want and actually end up getting are two different things.

Well blame that on US carrier interoperability issues and exclusive phones and what not.

I'm so ready to dump android once iOS gets its notification sorted it, Android is a nice idea but carriers can't get their act together and you always end up with a inferior product full of bloatware. Its getting harder and harder to root and flash roms to get rid of all the crap so F it.

harder? no. i have a sgs2 and it's easy. much easier than the goldcard method i used on my desire last year. HTC is also unlocking their bootloaders. it's not hard at all.

and dominator - yes, yes they did

Give examples. On what phones has it gotten harder to root and to flash roms. Locked bootloaders do not prevent you from flashing Roms by the way.

Steve Jobs said:
Ultimately it comes down to taste. It comes down to trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done and then try to bring those things in to what you’re doing. I mean Picasso had a saying he said good artists copy great artists steal. And we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas ehm and I think part of what made the Macintosh great was that the people working on it were musicians and poets and artists and zoologists and historians who also happened to be the best computer scientists in the world.

But goddamit if any of you fuckers try to steal what we've already rightfully stolen, we're going to bring the wrath of the government down on your soon to be lifeless body.

I will never buy any Apple product. I can't wait until Jobs croaks.

Wishing someone dead just because of some tech crap? You're in more need of therapy than just about anyone I've seen on this forum. I'm being serious about that.

Someone who is almost single-handedly turning the tech world into a walled garden under his tight-fisted control? You're darn right I'll be glad to see him go. I don't want any one company to control the future of computing, be it MS, IBM, Oracle or Apple. Course if Jobs simply wants to step down I'd accept that as well, but if he won't do it willingly I have no problem with nature removing him.

Both of you cut it out. Stay on topic - which is marketshare of mobile OS's.

This was the state of your beloved Android before Apple came along. Say what you will about Apple/Steve Jobs but the current smartphone market is the way it is because of Apple.

The topic is marketshare. We can talk about what kind of CEO Nokia has who loses that much marketshare that quickly, talk about Samsung's rise, RIM's future, and what the iPhone 5 release will do to these numbers. But if we are going to go down the same path of debating who copied who and which OS is better, and whether Jobs is a genius or evil, and who is a fanboy, then I'll lock it... because those flamefests happen too often, no one convinces the other side of anything, and nothing new is discussed.

Thanks for staying on topic

I think the iP5 will be a killer product, honestly after having LTE, I'm cool with going back to 3G. I get great 4G outside or near a window, but I'm on 3G most of the day because I'm inside of a building.

You're complaining that android is getting more locked down, but you want to move to one of the most locked down mobile OS's? That makes perfect sense.

Locked. And an infraction warning for thread crapping.
