McConnell is trying to have two cakes and eat it too. He wants to deny our citizens $2000, so objected and would not bring it up for a simple up or down vote. He will consider the $2000, but wants to attach other shit to the bill, which will surely be down voted in the house, then he can blame Democrats.
Warning to Mitch: Every Republican and Democrat sees what you're trying to do here.
He could have simply brought the $2k up for a vote and it should have easily passed in the Senate, but he decided to take the kinky reach around route to have something to blame on the Democrats. Passing the the $2k would have helped the Republicans in the GA runoffs. Doing it Mitch's way is a substantial risk to Republicans in that election, except now he gets to smear Democrats, as he thinks that's a winning strategy.
Mitch McConnell is currently the biggest asshole walking the planet. Congratulations to him for being hated by both sides. Nice job twat!!

Mitch don't care. His constituency is a handful of ultrawealthy donors. As long as they're happy, Mitch is good. The likelihood of the Reps losing the Senate is very small and is a risk Mitch is willing to take to keep his donors happy.

Is you is or is you ain't my constituents?

Mitch needs to be run out on a rail...just like Homer Stokes.

You're in agreeance that if the government takes on a dictator-like role of forcing closure of businesses that they should be the one on the hook for the economic repercussions that are PRECISELY caused by their totalitarian rules?

Well, shit who wuddathunk it? The people responsible for the massive poverty should be held liable for it. I'm shocked and appalled that we are all in agreeance here.

Next thing you know we might get folks to agree that when government brings about the demise of small business competitors while propping up and carving out special exception rules for big businesses in this pandemic (Walmart, Amazon, poultry factories, etc...) that they should be bailing out the small businesses instead of making them fall like dominos. Of course, they won't though, no matter how logical that should make sense to anyone with half a brain.

The republicans really do run circles around the dems when it comes to disinformation. Just look at how the very successfully confused people into thinking the covid relief was going to send money to countries like Pakistan.

A Trump guy told me I need to stop listening to MSM, and we'd be getting $2,000 but will only be getting $600 because people in a few different middle east countries would be getting around $10k each thanks to the sneaky Democrats. So this is why the Republicans can't support this bill.

The scary thing is there are a lot of damn people who believe this kind of shit.

Where the fuck did this come from?
However we agree in a certain sense. COVID caused damage that could not be predicted at least until it happened. The damage has affected businesses and more importantly citizens. From the start I would have preferred payments focusing on citizens and then on businesses. Take care of people first businesses second.
Let’s shelve businesses are people too talk in regards to this discussion.

Fucking idiot John Cornyn is on CSPAN right now trying to argue that the $2,000 stimulus is a give-away to the rich and people that don't need it.

His argument for that? Someone that makes $300k+ can potentially qualify for SOME stimulus check... if they have 4+ kids or something like that.

Oh man, what will the rich do with that massive sum of money?

Our government caused Covid?

You know quarantines have been utilized for hundreds of years to deal with plagues, and are frequently one of the most successful methods-especially when we know little or nothing regarding how to handle the disease initially.

Well, if nothing else, I now see how those proponents of corporate welfare process their justifications. And I'm speaking as a successful self employed business person for the past two decades.

Staying away from others is absolutely fine. Closing a gym makes zero sense. Again, they carve out these special provisions for things like Grocery stores and Amazon distribution centers. How do you think that effects mom and pop shops?

Do you really think that smaller stores are jam-packed with people while the grocery store isn't?

Also do you know whats more important than quarantining? Having a healthy immune system. What do you think happens when people are told to sit at home and watch Netflix for 12 months while getting booze and food the whole time?

Also you completely strawmanned my post. I don't blame the government for a pandemic occurring. I blame certain local governments for their totalitarian rules that have been attempted to be put in place for certain states that can't even obey their own rules.

Mitch has loyally shoved his head up Trump's a$$ and will subvert anything the democrats try to do until they have full control of all 3 branches of government. If that happens then we can finally get things done besides enriching the deplorables pockets at our expense!!!

We can only hope that the GA runoff gives the senate to the Dems so things can start moving forward. It just seems like that each time a party has control of all 3 it doesn't take long before they muck it all up and motivate voters to vote them out next cycle.

The GOP is simply evil incarnate. Their cult? Either corrupt or ignorant.

Put them in their own country. Let them fly the confederate flag

Gym Jordan took to Twitter to suggest that the Founding Fathers wouldn’t have approved of Covid shutdowns. He got promptly schooled by people pointing out that George Washington personally oversaw quarantines during the smallpox outbreaks of the 1770s

As was mentioned. The Founders probably would have hanged politicians like Jordan had he lived back then

Well here's a conspiracy for those that love conspiracies, and everyone I know (nearly) is a Trumpie conspiracist. SO my relatives now say.... covid was created to kill off the old folks to save on government funded programs for the old folks like SS and SSI and retirement homes. However, that first covid didn't quite work so the government created this "NEW and improved" covid to make sure the job gets done. And the government dangled the promise of a vaccine, the vaccine which few will ever get, so that people would let their guard down and spread around this covid, this NEW covid mind you, even faster. That's not my conspiracy, but that's what some are now saying. If people needed $2000 for the first round of covid relief they'll need three times that much for the next round of covid relief. It doesn't look like this will end with the demise of Donald Trump, looks like it will go on and on and on. The conspiracies, that is....
