OP:
So i've got 2 sets of tires (got the summer pair last summer) and i never got around to getting a 2nd set of wheels. so when last fall rolled around, I swapped the all seasons back onto my stock rims. now that it's warm again, I want to put the summer rubber back on, but I don't want to have to pay someone 60-80 bucks 2x a year to keep swapping tires back and forth.

long story short, i'm looking for a new set of wheels for an 07 civic si.

I've narrowed down to a few options:

Sparco Assetto Gara
Motegi Racing MR125
Enkei Tuning Fujin

any opinions on those brands (or others)?

thanks!

The Motegis are the lightest, so I'd go with them. 😛

Enkei RPF1's are 15.25lbs, though. 😉

Have you thought about looking at a junk yard? Having a popular car like that I would think you should be able to find some quality OEM wheels for a decent price.

It's a civic, just get whatever cheapest rim you can get, used is a good place to start.

actually just run all seasons. If you want higher performince all season, get W rated All Seasons.

Get the ones that look the best in your opinion. You won't be able to exploit the difference in weight anyway. You might not even notice 2-3lbs per corner, I know I didn't.

i do autocross the car regularly - not competitively, just for fun. so looks are more of a concern than weight. all the really cheap wheels look like crap 🙁

if that's the case, then just spend the money you save on some sticky rubber. you'll get way better results from tires than wheels.

I think the Motegis look the best. But im biased. 🙂

But really, 60-80 bucks twice a year equals the price of one rim. You wont start seeing savings for four years. Worth it... or just an excuse to buy rims?

...I wouldnt judge you if it was the latter.

tires don't like to be mounted and un-mounted all that much.

why, out of curiosity? better quality?

Enkei is solid quality, dark-painted wheels look shitty IMO, and the extra few lbs will make the wheel more durable and stiffer without noticeable response detriment.

^This. All day. Every day.

i have a set of dunlop star specs already, that's what I'll be mounting on these. I keep the wheels/tires on all summer though, can't stand daily driving on the all seasons after coming from the star specs, so I want them to not look crappy/cheap 🙂

thanks for all the advice guys, i think i'll go with the enkei's.

There are a lot of sticky tires out there... I'm just sayin' is all... 😀

Did you check the offsets of your stock wheels vs aftermarket? I made the mistake back when I owned a Honda Fit of getting aftermarket wheels with a significantly lower offset than stock. End result, when there was any weight in the back, the wheels would rub the insides of the fenders. Eventually it bothered me so much I sold them and bought a set of stock wheels for the car, and no more rubbing.

Of course the Fit's stock offset was probably much higher than your car but it's just something to keep in mind. It was +55mm and the highest most aftermarket wheels go is about +40mm.

stock wheels are 7", 45 offset, the enkeis are 7.5, 40 offset. online calculator says:
1 mm less clearance inside
11 mm more extension outside.

should be OK

were those out last summer? don't remember hearing about them - everyone was raving about the direzzas. anyway, it sounds like those might not be as good for rain / dd, and i hopefully have 2 more summers to go with my dunlops.

on a related tire note - i should be fine on 215/45/17 tires on a 7.5" rim, right?

Available end of last summer. You're right, epic dry grip but worse that SS in the rain and wears faster.

215 on a 7.5" wide rim is a-okay.
