2nd PC Wont connect through router

I bought a Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router today.

I have 2 PC's but I'm connecting them wired. They were using ICS before but I got a 360 a few weeks ago and so I want that on too, but lets leave that out of the equation atm since it's been nowhere near the router or either PC.

I have the router setup and the first PC (Main one you could say) connects to the internet fine, but the 2nd PC won't connect at all, even to the router setup page (the IP adress you use in the web browser)

Any ideas?

Cheers.

In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer?s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two.Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet

If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html.

Make sure you have TCP/IP set to DHCP(obtain IP address automatically, for both IP and the DNS server) in the network connection TCP/IP properties.

Also, make sure ICS is turned off on the "main" computer, in case that is conflicting with the router's own DHCP server.

I have made sure that DHCP is on both at the router and on the PC's, it is.

It's really annoying, the 2nd PC just will not connect to anything when its going through the router. I have also checked that the LAN connections are set tp automatically obtain IP's and DNS's.

One thing I was thinking of is would I maybe need a different cable to go from the 2nd PC to the router? As the one I'm using was the one I was using to connect both PC's on ICS, or does it not matter?

Cheers.

Yes, if you were connecting two pcs, without using a switch, the cable had to be a crossover cable. Now that you are using a router, with a built in switch, you need to use regular patch cable.
