I know I'm in the minority here, but I still like the new design.
There's nothing surprising about that. It's been obvious for quite some time that Apple would use the A4 (*grumble* 256MB RAM *grumble*). However it's highly likely that it's going to be clocked lower than the one in the iPad in the name of power savings. One site said it has the same processor as the ipad...that would be pretty cool since the ipad is so speedy.

I'm a fan too, it's a nice departure from what everyone else is making.
Keep in mind that the ipad runs for over ten hours. Most of the battery power goes towards lighting the screen and not the actual processing.
Would you like to have to recharge your phone every ten hours?

Also take into account the ipad is probably 8? times the size of the iphone. So you are powering a lot larger screen for 10 hours. I was mainly pointing out that the processing really isn't what drains the juice, it is the display.
Yep, I think the new design is a big improvement over the overly rounded 'used bar of soap' look of the previous iPhones. And, it should have a little more case volume for a larger battery.
Still, in three weeks I dump my 3G iPhone for the HTC Evo! Sorry Steve...
